In the closet I did play
even though "NO", mom did say
I heard mom a-coming
so I went a tumbling
running to be free
I fell upon my knee
Mom was at my side
as I yelped and I cried
Of course I did know
to the vet we would go
They pulled and they prodded
They poked and they nodded,
"It's a cartilage tear
She should be fair."
Some medicine and a shot
was what I got
We finally got home
I wanted to roam
but my leg really hurt
which made me quite curt
I walk with a limp
but I'm not a wimp
I'm growling and hissing
when mom comes a-kissing
getting into spats
with all the other cats
I cry and I pout
'cause I know without a doubt
its them and mom, NOT ME
who's at fault for my hurt knee!

Baby Hummingbirds
Hobbly and Gobbly
are still a bit wobbly
Their nest is quite small
like half a golf ball
Their bodies are growing
Their long beaks are showing
One week and a few days old
makes them slightly bold
They shake a wing
or ruffle a feather
Their mom starts to sing
and push them together
She sits right on top
so they don't drop
to the ground
and go splat
or get found
by the cat
They beg to fly
"Oh mama, can't we try?"
She answers, "all in good time
and it'll be sublime."
They arch their necks to the skies
with half closed eyes
and dream of flight
with extreme delight.
