I've been named Melarne (pronounced Muh-lar-knee) and I have blue eyes, am gray and white with medium hair and have no tail. I wandered up to this house back in the Spring of 2001. I was told by a kitty angel to go to this house and I would be taken care of. So I sat outside the bedroom window one night and meowed until a human female came out to talk to me. I am very timid. But I was also very hungry when the human female first tried to pet me. So I let her and she gave me milk and then some cat food. After a few days, I allowed myself to be petted even more. I do like petties, but you have to be very still and make only slow movements when I'm around or I will run away.
I like to twirl in circles for my meals, lie about in the yard after its been watered and catch and eat lizards and birds. I spend most of the day under the old doghouse in the corner of the yard. The three inside cats come out into their outdoor play pen and try to talk to me. But I'm scared of them too. I often hiss at them. They probably mean well, but I cannot help it; I'm afraid of everything.
Then one day my mommy and daddy moved away and
mommy took me to live with her. So now I'm an indoor cat. At
first I spent time under the bed. Then I moved to a hole under the
kitchen cabinets. Then mom got me out of there and put me in my very
own kitty condo. I live in an old desk with lots of cubby holes and
there's a fence around it so that the other kitties cannot bother me as
I'm still scared of other kitties. Mom hopes someday that I'll be
fully integrated into her kitty family. But for now, I'm content
to stay in my hiding spots of the desk and only come out for food and petties
from mom.
I know what those other cats are thinking when
they look at me. So I wrote this little diddy to let them know that
I am a cat and not a bunny like they suspect. I know without a tail
that I look different when I run.
MELLIE'S
SONG:
I'm
Mellie
with
no tailie
I'm
not a bunny girl
I
make kitty biscuits,
I
meow and I purr
So
I'm not a bunny girl
I'm
just Mellie
with
no tailie
not
a bunny girl
I'm
a cat
and
that is that
I'm
not a bunny girl
I
said, "I'm not a bunny girl"
I'm
just a kitty girl
